Dacono

A 10-mile drive from Denver will get you to the bustling city of Dacono. With amazing views of the Rocky Mountains, its well thought-out approach to development, and its distinct character, Dacono is not your typical city. It strikes the perfect balance of having a small-town atmosphere with big city amenities.

Dacono is the most developed in the Tri-Town area along with Firestone and Frederick. This is thanks to Dacono’s strategic location near metro areas and main thoroughfares which has attracted a number of businesses and up-and-coming entrepreneurs. It has remained true to its humble beginnings, however, so it still has that simple neighborhood appeal people look for outside of the city.

The first settlers came to Dacono in 1901 and it eventually became a coal mining town by 1906. It was formally incorporated two years later as Dacono – an interesting amalgamation of the names of residents Daisy Baum and her friends Cora Van Vorhies and Nora Brooks. The mining industry in Dacono attracted many immigrants from Greece, France, Bulgaria, and other countries. Dacono was also known for farming and shipping town. With a railroad set in place, produced goods were regularly delivered to Denver.
